Paul Noble is a genius with a higher IQ than Einstein. Despite this, he still struggled with language learning at school. He found himself feeling "confused, incapable, and unable to really say anything". As a result of his negative early experiences, Paul has come up with a groundbreaking new method of language teaching that removes the need for months of study. With Paul Noble, everyone really can speak a language.

Part 1 of the course covers

  • Language ground rules
  • Asking questions
  • Introduction to verbs

At the hotel, a native-speaking German expert helps Paul to deliver the course and to perfect your pronunciation. No complicated grammatical explanations, no rote memorisation, no writing - no stress. Learn over 6,000 words in no time at all and - most importantly - learn how to make your new vocabulary work for you. A downloadable booklet is also included to use as a reference and revision tool.

Learn German with Paul Noble combines an exciting, new, nontraditional approach to language learning with the easy, relaxed appeal of an audio-only product. No books. No rote memorisation. No chance of failure.

I've been listening to this in the car, as I go about my daily life. The first time I listened to it, it was doable but I didn't think I was going to remember much. However the second time I listened to it, it was much easier and all his lessons have sunk in. I'm really enjoying this book and like the idiosyncratic way he teaches.

Learn German with Paul Noble Part 1 German Made Easy with Your Personal Language Coach (Audible Audio Edition) Paul Noble HarperCollins Publishers Limited Books Reviews

I have struggled for years to feel fluent in (a separate study of) Spanish, with two years of school study, and am usually a quick study on any subject, good in English and linguistics. But learning a new language is a challenge if you cannot do sink or swim in-country, and I've never felt I could completely do it, living in the U.S. In fact, I *have* never done it completely, prior to Paul Noble's programs.

Nonetheless I am determined to learn German for various needs (and finally master Spanish afterwards!). After buying a number of other programs, mobile apps, signing up for a few different website learning centers ("memberships") and buying some other audible books, the most I could have said prior to this book is that I know a chunk of vocabulary. Other programs' fast verbalizing of new sentences was frustrating; they'd repeat things twice but I could not understand 100% of what letters were said (was that a "t" or a "d" ?? What was that fast-verbalized syllable??? etc)....

Despite all these other purchases, before Paul Noble's program I could not make new sentences in German (or Spanish), except maybe a couple 3-word highly simple present tense sentences. All I could really do was repeat sentences taught to me in these programs, and *that* is NOT speaking a language! UNTIL THIS PROGRAM -- WOW!!! I am now voicing new sentences in my head as I go about my day, and I know I will be proficient enough soon for my needs. I *love* this program!!!

Finally, someone intelligent enough to see the problem with adult learning has put together a program that builds on our native language, showing us how much we already know, building on that, showing us how one English word becomes a German word, how groups of words are related and can-we-guess-how-this-word-would-be-said-in-German .... (YES!! WE CAN!!)....Casually and pleasantly drilling us over and over on new possible sentence structures, until we really really get it. Now all the other programs are merely added vocabulary databases, and this is THE learning track. Paul Noble is the ticket. I am so grateful! Thank you Paul Noble!!!
Considering I am on level 2 of Rosetta Stone, (which is around 30-40 hours in) you'd think I would have a grasp on the language. And, by and large I suppose I know a lot of words that are separate from each other, but I've never been able to form those words into a coherent sentence. Perhaps it's the leg up that Rosetta Stone gave me, which it absolutely did, but even after 40 or so hours there, I believe I've learned more in 3 hours with Paul Noble's program than vice versa. I listen to it while I run and can now string together sentence, I now understand grammar better than I ever have (something Rosetta Stone doesn't even touch on, it's a guessing game with them) and I can now make sense of the translation of words, with German the word Sie means, She, You, They. And I had no idea when to use which, but, now and I'm sure with common sense after it was explained, I grasp it with ease. While I may not be completely fluent, I can say it was the best $5 I could have spent in any area and especially on a language learning system.

One down side, I don't know how to spell the words but you can figure that out once you learn how it all works and sound them out. German does use a few wonky symbols that this program hasn't covered, but I'm only on "1" so, we'll see if they ever mention the strange symbols.

The fact that I can run and practice this makes me feel as if this is the summer I finally master languages.
So far, I've been learning German, French, and Spanish (hey, don't scoff. I'm an empty-nester!) through the Paul Noble system and I completely understand why his learning system is rated highly.

Paul sets you up for success by identifying the similarities between the subject language and English. For instance, by adding 'ch' onto 'I' you get the german "I"; switch the C to K then tag on an extra N and you've changed the English word 'can' to 'kann' in German.

Further, we learn that most English words ending with 'ing' automatically end with 'en' in German. If Paul hadn't enumerated these, such glaring associations and similarities would be totally lost to a beginner.

As a result, these associations make it easier for the brain and mind to switch languages, which means learning is infinitely less daunting. He also teaches proper sentence construction, situational conversation and more importantly, how to respond when a native speaker responds to your questions.

Lastly, Paul speaks with such a mellifluous tone which instantly soothes even the most nervous beginner. Anyway, I am hoping to try my German next summer when, hopefully, I should be proficient. Ja, ich Kann! (Yes, I can).
This book is trash, waste of time. Will NOT teach you anything valuable about German.
I have tried several ways to learn German. While other apps and books build vocabulary or teach sentence structures, none is like what this audio book achieved - it allows me to start speaking German in sentences within a couple of hours. I think it is a great book when used in combination with other methods.
